Training on gender and land governance draws to a close Naivasha

UN-HABITAT´s first Gender Equality Action Assembly concluded last weekend with strong support from partner organizations to take a stronger role in promoting the Gender Equality Action Plan and strengthened collaborations between urban planners, local governments, and grassroots women’s networks.

As part of what is called Grassroots Mechanism, the Global Land Tool Network (GLTN) partnering with Huairou Commission, International Land Coalition and Slum/Shack Dwellers International is providing support to four grassroots-led projects in India, Peru, Tanzania and the Philippines.

UN-HABITAT and the Pakistan Institute for Environment-Development Action Research organized a one-day National Workshop on Gender Mainstreaming in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene convened by the Pakistani Ministry of Environment on 14 December, 2009.

Vice-President of the All China Federation of Trade Unions, Ni Jianmin, has said that the key to promoting gender equality in the workplace is worker education.
